Learn what seeds to start indoors. Develop an understanding for timing seeding with optimum transplanting time to the garden. Practice different techniques sowing, multi-block sowing, soil blocking, etc. Take home a six pack planted with seeds to nurture and transplant in your own garden. Limited class size.
VEGETABLE PLANTING: DESIGN & TIMING

Gardening on paper is worth the time and effort. Find out how much space in needed for different vegetables. How do you figure out how many plants you need. What vegetables are cold hardy and can be planted early? What vegetables need to be protected from frost. Draw a plan of your garden before putting your shovel in the soil. Limited class size.
BED PREPARATION AND TRANSPLANTING

Observe and practice two types of bed preparation, raised beds and no dig. Learn the pros and cons of each method to help decide what’s right for you. Discuss uses of natural mulches for on top of and in-between beds Introduction into the benefits and uses of compost. Outdoors, dress appropriately for the weather.
